Friday, July 31st, Dan & I spent some time near Moeraki and had fun watching the yellow-eyed penguins come onto the beach at dusk.

I can't believe how many were there at once. A pretty sociable group.
We thought these were dolphins from the distance then realized the penguins were porpoising while making their way to the beach. They were so fast, I can't believe we got this picture!

They are such amazing creatures. I am going to miss being able to watch penguins in nature less than an hour from my house when we move back.
