Not a good start to the weekend

We had a bit of excitement this weekend. Our nice heavy apartment doors lock automatically which is usually pretty handy since we don’t have to remember to lock them behind us. On Saturday we left sort of early to get to the farmers market before the chocolate croissants were sold out. For once I didn’t nag Danny about if he had keys & cell phone, mostly because I was still half asleep. You see where this is going, right? The door had barely latched when we both realized neither of us had keys; also no cell phones. Our landlord does have an apartment in our building but spends most weekends on his farm in central Otago (about 3 hours away). We also remember him saying not to lose the keys since he didn’t have an extra.

So some words were spoken, and the windows were deemed too high and too small to crawl through. Then we met our front neighbor who was really nice despite us waking him up. He lent us a phone book & his phone & made us some tea while we waited for the locksmith. Things went smoothly after this; but it was a bad start to the weekend.
