Most of Port Chalmers' economic activity centers on the container terminal where all the shipping containers come into and out of Otago.
This is from a sculpture garden near a lookout point in Port Chalmers. You can see south across the Otago Harbor to the Peninsula (also Quarantine & Goat Islands). Because it is north-facing the Peninsula seems to get more sun than the Port Chalmers side of the Harbor.
Another look at the Port - most of the area in this picture is built on reclaimed land that used to be part of the Harbor.

Gert and I were reminded today how delicious Cuban food is tonight when we ate Ropa Vieja.
