This Saturday (being without a car) Dan & I took the bus to visit Port Chalmers. Port Chalmers is the main port of the city of Dunedin. It has a population of 3,000 and lies ten kilometers inside Otago Harbor, some 15 kilometers northeast from Dunedin's city center. Notice the nice Fall color on the hillside? Leaves are turning color here as Fall sets in. The town itself is very quaint with antique stores, art galleries, restaurants, and old churches.
Most of Port Chalmers' economic activity centers on the container terminal where all the shipping containers come into and out of Otago.
This is from a sculpture garden near a lookout point in Port Chalmers. You can see south across the Otago Harbor to the Peninsula (also Quarantine & Goat Islands). Because it is north-facing the Peninsula seems to get more sun than the Port Chalmers side of the Harbor.
Another look at the Port - most of the area in this picture is built on reclaimed land that used to be part of the Harbor.

Gert and I were reminded today how delicious Cuban food is tonight when we ate Ropa Vieja.
Now, we come to the blog and see how delicious looking the Cuban male is...
