Dunedin Christmas Parade
Sunday, December 7th, we used our new camera taking pictures at the Dunedin Christmas Parade. Actually, I think they call it the Santa Parade. Definately not "Holiday Parade" - everything here is Christmas all the time which seems weird being so used to hearing Happy Holidays back in the States.
Looking towards the Octagon from nearer our apartment. The Christmas decorations are up. The weather was nice for the parade - very windy, but sunny and in the 60's.
The big Christmas tree in the Octagon.
The Cadbury girls were throwing candy to the kids - it was the only group that threw candy though. Also, no commercial carts selling balloons or popcorn or whatever like you see in the States.
Being Dunedin, there were bagpipes.
And cricket being played on the back of a flat-bed truck. As you can see, everyone was all crowded up on the floats. There was only enough room for one lane of parade traffic. Everyone kept spilling into the middle of the road.
There were a lot of things that made you forget it was a Christmas parade. Basically anything goes here -- lots of fairy tale themes or just random things like these planes.
