Picton

Sunday, Dec 21st, we picked up my sister, Marlene, from Christchurch airport, fuelled up with Starbucks and drove 4 hours to Picton. The scenery was amazing on the drive, and we all were singing along to Christmas music to keep Marlene entertained (and awake).

We arrived in Picton in time for a little exploring before getting dinner. Picton is a port city where the Interislander ferry takes people between the north and south islands of NZ. Picton is in the Marlborough Sounds area where we were planning on kayaking in a few days time. See the kayaker in the picture above? That's gonna be us!

The weather was still sort of chilly, and the Sounds looked spooky with all the mist and haze.

Picton is a tiny town - nothing really to write home about. We ate dinner and hoped that Monday would be sunny.
