When we moved to New Zealand, we left Dan's truck with his brother, Fernando, in Colorado Springs. Since getting back, Dan has been missing it something awful so early November we flew into Colorado Springs to drive the truck back to Wisconsin. Oh yes, another cross-country road trip.
This time we took things a little bit slower than in the past and actually spent a day exploring the area around Colorado Springs & visiting Fernando, Jodi & the boys. November 5th, Dan and I drove up Pikes Peak which I had never been before.

This lake was incredibly beautiful.
There was a lot of new snow on Pikes Peak. The last few miles of road to the summit was closed due to a fresh 36 inches of snow on the road.
We got pretty high but not to the summit of 14,115 feet (4,302 m). Still, the views were pretty beautiful.
The scenery and weather made us miss our time in Denver.
Thankfully the good ol' truck made it up and back Pikes Peak. It was an unintentional test before the road trip back to Wisconsin. From Colorado Springs we drove to Denver to visit some friends there.
