Saturday, after quick goodbye hugs with Avery and Daniel, we started the drive from Denver to Wisconsin.
Everyone always imagines mountains when they think of Colorado. The eastern side of the state is very flat though. And New Zealanders, check out these roads! Wide, smooth, 6 lanes, and no crazy drink-driving billboards -- it really was a pretty boring drive after NZ roads.
I thought this was funny. A town called Merino. Wonder if there are a lot of sheep there.
There were so many of these wind turbines on the eastern side of Colorado.
We got to drive through Nebraska for most of the day. It's not a small state.
While speeding along I-80 through Nebraska, everyone sees The Great Platte River Road Archway even if only as a quick glimpse. It houses a museum which pays tribute to the enduring spirit of the pioneers.

Of course, they have a Cornhusker highway! The first day, we made it to Des Moines, Iowa where we had some nice, local steaks and spent the night at a classy Holiday Inn which was hosting at least one wedding the night we were there.
