Springtime at the Botanical Gardens

Sunday, September 19th, we took a walk through the Dunedin Botanical Gardens. It's definitely springtime at the gardens. We've had better weather lately (more sun, less rain & cold), and I think winter is finally behind us.

The daffodils were everywhere - just beautiful.
The rhododendron gardens were especially impressive. They reminded me of the novel Rebecca when the narrator dreams of the overgrown 50-foot high red rhododendrons lining the drive up to Manderley. These were huge and very bright; Dan almost got lost in them.

And gorgeous magnolias!

They have this lovely cherry tree lane. We visited at the perfect time to see the cherry trees blossoming. We saw a wedding party getting pictures in the gardens & you can imagine why. The gardens here are really nice, and it's good to finally see spring arrive in the southern hemisphere.
