By now everyone has probably heard our good news; Dan has accepted a teaching position at Northwestern University in Chicago in their physical therapy department. Consequently, we have moved to Chicago; specifically we've moved to Lake View East. It's a nice neighborhood a few miles north of downtown and our apartment in only a few blocks from Lake Michigan.
Here's some pictures of the apartment. It's the top floor unit of a building with only 4 units. The rest of the people in the building are owners of their apartments - our landlords couldn't sell this condo and needed to move to California so now we are renting it. The elevator that opens to our hallway was really handy when we were moving in.
Here's the kitchen which is huge compared to any of our prior kitchens. I can't reach the top shelf of any of those cabinets without a step ladder though. And I have to put decals on those windows soon -- we've had a couple of bird strikes lately.
Here's the dining/living room/office area. The place is pretty airy and full of natural light. Unless it's raining for a week like this last week. Even then though, the windows are great. And we have a view of the Sears Tower from those windows....unfortunately, no views of the lake.
Another view of the living/kitchen area where we mostly hang out.
The guest bedroom.
Here's my lovely balcony garden. The tomatoes have a ways to go, but I've already made pesto from the basil. Too bad the balcony faces north. Someone wasn't planning when they built this building.
Here's the master bedroom which has the balcony off of it. The move has gone fairly smoothly. Almost everything is unpacked now, and it was like Christmas opening our things that we haven't seen since we moved from Denver. We are looking forward to exploring the neighborhood and getting to know Chicago.

So are you really in Chicago or are you living in NYC a.k.a Ossining?
Congrats! How far is Wrigley from you pad?
John, we are really in Chicago now...less than 1 mile from Wrigley.
